Volante use instruments that match the spirit of the period: A classical flute is wooden and has eight keys. Violin, viola and cello are played with light classical bows and have gutstrings.

The Volante members have all studied early music at the Sibelius-Academy (Finland) and abroad, in France, Holland, England and Spain. They also play in other early music groups and orchestras, for example Helsinki Baroque Orchestra.

The repertoire of Volante includes music from Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Boccherini, Crusell, Rossini and Reicha.
