Stavanger Symphony Orchestra

The Stavanger Symphony Orchestra focuses as part of its profile on the performance of early music played on modern instruments. The orchestra has concentrated its training in this technique under the leadership of eminent conductors with central positions within the early music movement, such as Frans Brüggen (former artistic leader in this field), Bruno Weil and Philippe Herreweghe (the current artistic leader),
The Trombone section of the Stavanger Symphony orchestra, comprised of Leif Værum Larsen (Principal), Ebbe Sivertsen (Co-principal) and Gaute Vikdal (Bass), will demonstrate on the festival how the orchestra interprets this style of music on modern instruments. They will use as a starting point for the clinic the trombone parts to Mozart’s Requiem (Süssmayr edition).
