The Scandinavian Trombone trio was formed in 1990 when the whole group worked as the trombone section in the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra in Sweden. Still Erik Björkqvist is principal trombone of the Helsingborg Symphony. P.K. Svensen and Jan Lindberg have moved on to be the principal trombone and bas trombone of Malmö Symphony Orchestra in Sweden... All three are former students of Ingemar Roos at the music academy in Gothenburg. The trio has also several times in shorter periods been studying in USA with Jay Friedman, Michael Mulcahy and Joe Alessi. The trio has been soloists with several Scandinavian orchestras, such as the Helsingborg S.O, Malmö S.O. and Jönköping Sinfonietta and also been soloists in Japan with the Fukuoko Symphony Orchestra. The trio has also with several occasions been touring in Sweden, Denmark and Norway with different chamber music programs. In February 2004 the trio is invited as soloists with the Lithuanian Philharmonic Orchestra, Lithuania. |

At the trombone festival the trio will perform the Derek Bourgeois Concerto for three trombones, string orchestra and percussion. The piece was composed in 1977. It is a pleasure for the Scandinavia Trombone Trio to perform this concerto at the International Trombone Festival in Finland with our mentor, Ingemar Roos as conductor. |
