Born in Kokkola, Finland in 1967. His first teacher was Samuli Konttori. He studied in Sibelius-Academy with Simo Kanerva where he graduated in 1991. He has studied also in Copenhagen with Carsten Svanberg. He joined the Finnish National Opera Orchestra 1988 and he has been the principal trombone there since 1995. He has also been member of Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. He was 2nd prize winner in the Scandinavian Trombone Competition in Lieksa 1998. He is also very active soloist and chamber musician. He is a member of several festival orchestras and chamber music ensembles including The Savonlinna Opera Festival Orchestra, The Finnish Brass Symphony, Brasstime Quartet and Finnish Chamber Orchestra. |
