Alexander Gorbunov was born in Kaliningrad, Russia in April 1978. He graduated from St.Petersburg Conservatorium in the class of Prof. Victor Sumerkin. At the present time he is a student of Orchestra Academy Opernhaus in Zurich. Gorbunov also works for Mariinsky theatre in Russia.

In the year 2001 Gorbunov won the 1st Prise in the National competition of Rimsky-Korsakov and in the year 2002he won the 1st Prise of International Competition in Markneukirchen.
